Drawing Time Lapse

Insignificant Tombstone Lost Pet Thjinker Memoirs Newton

Behind the scenes of my drawing process on some recent cartoons.

The insignificant Father’s Day one started out as a daily cartoon idea in the wake of Trump‘s reelection that was rejected. Later I had the idea for the Father’s Day caption and just slightly switched up the drawing for it. Also rejected.

For the comic sans tombstone I wanted the font to look accurate, but it turned out I didn’t have comic sans installed on my iPad, so I had to copy and paste it from a JPEG. After Times Luxury bought it I got paranoid about the kerning and tweaked it so minutely I’m pretty sure no one noticed but me.

For the lost human flyer I had forgotten that I first tried to draw the person with sunglasses. I guess I thought it would make it look like they were frolicking outdoors or something, but it just looked weird so I abandoned it.

I like on the thinker one how I tried to freestyle it at first and it looked totally wrong so I had to bring in an actual picture of the sculpture. I may have ended up making it a little too tight and too close to the actual sculpture though, not loose and cartoony enough, but, whatever. It worked.
